• More than $175,000 economic opportunity lost due to decreased productivity
• Between $382 million and $1 billion – cost of uninsurance due to decreased productivity, lost wages, opportunity costs for employers, employees, families, health care providers (between $1645 and $4356 per person)

Demographics of Santa Clara County

• 56% of the uninsured earn more than twice the federal poverty level

• Undocumented cannot access federal programs

Even if we secure insurance for only 0.2% of the population (466 people), we’d save the country $1.4 million (average of $3000 per person – average cost of uninsurance) in this phase.

What is Mission Health?

In this phase of Mission Health, trained enrollers discuss the benefits of health insurance for children with families, evaluate the families’ eligibility, and assist the family in enrolling their child/children in the appropriate health insurance program (Medi-Cal, Healthy Families, Healthy Kids, etc.). The appropriate plan depends upon the child’s age, residency status, family size, and income. In addition, children within the same family may qualify for different programs.

Seamlessly integrating access to all levels of health care from a financial assistance perspective.
Implementing new ways of funding access to existing health care services for the uninsured.
Expanding the scope of provided health care services to include behavioral therapy, substance abuse counseling, etc.
Achieving financial self-sufficiency for our programs.
